Classic Typewriters Simon & Susan

Welcome to Classic Typewriters, operated by Simon & Susan Davidson Simon has been collecting manual typewriters since the 1980’s and has a passion for them and he has many brands and models of typewriters in his private collection, the typewriters available on this website are from this collection, as there are simply far too many and some have to go.

As these typewriters are being sold privately, from the private collection, you would think we would not offer returns, we do, if the typewriter you buy from the website is faulty on arrival, please contact us.

Finding and restoring classic typewriters is a passion for both of us. It is fascinating finding a typewriter that has been forgotten about and left up in someones attic for decades and then restoring it for some else to have pleasure with long into the future.

We take pride on providing quality pre-owned portable typewriters in full working order that are ready to go straight out of the box. It is a pleasure to service and restore each typewriter to the highest possible standard, we take time patiently cleaning and servicing them for your use and enjoyment.

We have worked with many typewriters such as Facit, Erika, Adler, Imperial, Olympia, Olivetti, Remington, Underwood, Smith Corona, Brother, Silver Reed, Triumph-Adler, Hermes and many others.

We also have working relationships with other suppliers, restorers and typewriter enthusiasts in Sweden, Germany and Denmark as well as the UK, who have varying experience and niche items that we can access to meet our clients needs.

We have supplied classic typewriters to authors, hotels, TV production companies, law firms, etc.

We are based in the South West of Hungary. Simon is originally from Manchester, in the UK, has a passion for all things analog, including typewriters, film cameras etc.. and Susan is from Belfast.

What is the reason for our passion of vintage typewriters?

  • Vintage typewriters remind us to slow down. They teach us to enjoy the art of writing without distraction again, no more pop-up ads or alerts that someone has sent a message!.
  • Watching the letters appear one by one at each hit of the key is mesmerizing.
  • Typewriters are no longer manufactured, we have to treasure the ones that are left, keep them functioning for future generations to use. Typewriters, if maintained will actually appreciate in value over the years.
  • They are so very easy to use. No plugs required, No USB ports to worry about, No Software Updates, No Viruses, No Hacking. No Planned Obsolescence
  • They do not need an internet connection and there is no need to charge them.
